Does your dog pull on the leash? Bark at other dogs when walking? Jump on family and friends? Steal food?

Individual dog training sessions

Individual dog training sessions

Something is out of balance, and I can help restore it.

In the canine world, where “pack rule” is orderly and predictable, dogs respect and respond to a leader. In the domestic world of homes, parents, kids and neighbors, dogs still expect for a leader to emerge.

If you don’t take this role, the dog will. Whether you are raising a puppy or are attempting to integrate an older dog into your home, the cues YOU send play a big role in how well and how quickly the animal adapts.

This is why my holistic approach to training dogs includes not just the pet, but the owner. My obedience training programs are available for all ages of dog, and can include one owner or an entire family. In each program, we set rules and boundaries for what the animal can and can’t do.

Because dogs understand physical commands rather than yelling, we teach clear communication through body language first, and then verbal cues. These are tools you will use for a lifetime with your pet.

Atlantic K9 offers these dog training programs

Every family is unique, every dog is an individual-effective training will reflect that. At Atlantic K9, We take the time to develop a program tailored to you and your dog that will foster the growth of mutual respect, the foundation of any positive relationship.

Private House Calls and Lessons:

For those owners who prefer one-on-one training in their own homes. During private sessions, We teach how to communicate with your dog. Using both body language and verbal cues, we help you to reinforce the desirable behaviors while eliminating negative ones. We also work on fundamental obedience commands such as heel, come, sit and stay.

Boot Camp Program

This program is designed for dogs who require a more intensive approach. Your dog will stay at my training center and work with my team and me for two weeks sometimes up to four weeks. During this time, we will address any difficult behavioral issues such as leash reactivity towards dogs or people; food stealing; anxiety or fear issues; aggression; and refusal to listen. Your dog will also be taught commands. At the end of the program, we provide follow-up training after to show you the commands your dog has learned, as well as other tools you can use in your own home, to reinforce the lessons your dog has learned.

We offer extended stays to dogs who have issues that require more extensive behavior modification.

Daycare Training Program:

During daycare at our facility, our team works with your dog to make sure he or she will have an enjoyable stay. We pair your dog with dogs that are similar in size and behavior to ensure they have happy playtime outdoors. While outdoors, the dogs are under constant supervision and any negative behavior, such as jumping or rough play, is corrected on the spot. Playtime helps your dog to socialize with other dogs and other humans.

Each dog is given one-on-one time with a member of my team, whether going for a nice walk or playing ball, all the while continuing to reinforce positive behavior and eliminate negative behavior. We take the necessary steps to make sure your dog is catered to and has a good individual experience.

Board and Training:

Dogs that board with us receive the same attention and positive reinforcement as in the daycare program, but with overnight care that allows for extra attention and cuddle time at night.

A loving relationship between you and your dog is built on a foundation of positive behavior. At Atlantic K9, we get to know you and your dog and give you the tools you need to build that relationship.

Our Clients Say it Best

Marjorie & Asher

/
Kathleen James came to our home to help us with our five-year-old Heeler mix, Asher. Asher was displaying aggressive behavior whenever a human or dog stranger came onto our property. He would bark, growl and lunge and I was afraid he was going to bite someone.

Tom Cannon & Brady

/
I have owned dogs all my life but it wasn’t until I adopted a German Shorthair Pointer that I felt the need for professional training. Inside my home Brady was a well behaved and affectionate 2 year old. Outdoors he is a hunting beast. When he got loose it was bedlam.
