Obedience and Puppy Programs

Our Clients Say it Best

Grace & Henry

I can’t believe how much your training has improved my life. I get to go on walks through the neighborhood, I don’t waste so much time barking like a MadMan at all those silly little dogs. I’m learning to be in very good control when I see another dog while I am out walking and I come when I am called.

Our eighteen month German Shepherd has been nothing but successful in her training with  Kathleen and Dogtra. Our family adopted Shayna last February with a limited knowledge of her background, and were a bit surprised with her initial demeanor.

In the canine world, where “pack rule” is orderly and predictable, dogs respect and respond to a leader. In the domestic world of homes, parents, kids and neighbors, dogs still expect for a leader to emerge.

If you don’t take this role, the dog will. Whether you are raising a puppy or are attempting to integrate an older dog into your home, the cues YOU send play a big role in how well and how quickly the animal adapts.

This is why my holistic approach to training dogs includes not just the pet, but the owner. My obedience training programs are available for all breeds and ages, and can include one owner or an entire family. In each program, we set rules and boundaries for what the animal can and can’t do.

Because dogs understand physical commands rather than yelling, we teach clear communication through body language first, and then verbal cues. These are tools you will use for a lifetime with your pet to teach puppy imprinting (how our puppies are first introduced to training), raising a puppy correctly (prevention of behavior problems); teaching basic dog obedience commands like heel, sit, stay, come and down; advanced and off-leashing training; Invisible dog fence training and products; crate and house training and more.
