We offer private and group training lessons, boot camp services, daycare and boarding, and breeding of German Shepherds and Jack Russell Terriers. We specialize in individualized K9 programs and training methods that utilize positive reinforcement techniques to improve the relationship between dogs and their owners.

Animal Care Attendant and Dog Training Apprentice Opportunity

Are you looking for a fun and rewarding career opportunity working with dogs? Atlantic K9 cultivates a positive work environment where employees have an opportunity to get paid to train and care for dogs! This position is for individuals who want to learn everything there is to know about dogs in a structured and safe environment. You will be surrounded every day by our trainers who will routinely provide knowledge about dog behavior, dog body language, pack play, obedience training, and so much more! Our supportive staff will train new employees to learn our methods to provide personal and attentive care to each and every daycare, boarding, and bootcamp dog! Some key responsibilities include:

• Building trusting relationships with clients and their dogs
• Greeting clients at drop off and pick up
• Checking dogs in and out for boarding and daycare
• Choosing the perfect kennel for each dog and communicating important information and special instructions provided by the owner
• Going for off leash pack walks on our 10-acre property
• Placing dogs into play groups that match their temperament, size, and individual personality
• Thoroughly looking over each dog when they come inside from their group training and play time
• Rotating groups of dogs in and out of the play yards and documenting their daily schedules
• Working together as a team to schedule each dog’s training walk based upon the day
• Cleaning of assigned areas
• Feeding and administering medication for all dogs under our care
• Understanding each dog’s typical behavior and having the ability to recognize abnormal behavior
• Picking up and dropping off clients’ dogs (using a personal vehicle is sometimes required)

Animal Internship Program

Our internship program is designed to teach College students how to care for, train, and handle dogs correctly in our daycare and boarding facility and one-on-one with clients. This portion of our internship program is a great fit for students in an animal science degree program or for criminal justice students hoping to work with police K9s. Skills in husbandry, animal handling, and knowledge of training techniques will be applicable to nearly any field of animal work.
