Atlantic K9 Training is a privately owned and operated full-service dog training school in Boxford, MA. We offer private and group training lessons, boot camp services, daycare and boarding, and breeding of German Shepherds and Jack Russell Terriers. We specialize in individualized K9 programs and training methods that utilize positive reinforcement techniques to improve the relationship between dogs and their owners.

Dog Trainer Apprentice

Our Dog Trainer Apprentices provide personal and attentive care to the training requirements for daycare and boarding dogs. We provide extensive training to our apprentices so they can successfully learn and manage their key responsibilities, including:

Executive/Office Assistant – Part Time, potential Full-Time hours

The Executive/Office Assistant manages the administrative needs of the Owner of a busy, active growing dog-training and canine services business in Boxford, MA. The Executive/Office Assistant also supports the admin needs of the organization, interacting with clients via phone, email and in-person and always jumps in to help whenever needed. The ideal candidate for this role is a “Jill/Jack of All Trades” and shows competence, confidence, respect, flexibility, strong organizational skills. We want a dynamic, energetic and detailed oriented individual with a sense of confidence in their ability to get projects done and learn new things. Must love both dogs and people!

Responsibilities include:

  1. Providing support for a busy Owner, including managing calendar, scheduling, setting meetings and handing both work and personal appointments and errands; High-touch customer service practices, including speaking with the public via phone and email (to answer information requests and schedule and re-schedule appointments) and when they arrive for in-person appointments.
  2. Providing office administration including paperwork, filing, organization and use of company systems (customer relations management systems or CRMs) to track information.
  3. Content creating for social media, including Facebook and Instagram. The ability to work with software like Adobe Suite and WordPress. Strong technical skills and the ability to learn new technology with confidence in a fast-paced environment.
  4. Marketing skills, working directly with Google analytics, uploading videos and content to YouTube, light video editing experience is a plus.
  5. Assisting with Zoom classes; being able to quickly take down information, set up Zoom calls, record information, and correspond with clients for our new Online Dog Training services.
  6. Handling billing, accounts payable and accounts receivable, making entries into QuickBooks, meeting with the Owner to review info and working with the external accountant to make sure they receive all info needed.

Qualifications include:

Positive and energetic attitude; friendly, enthusiastic and respectful demeanor with all clients and co-workers; attune to the energy flow of the company and the clients; flexibility and ability to go with the flow; ability to get along with others in a collaborative environment; strong attention to detail and organizational skills; ability to handle multiple projects or tasks at the same time; strong proactive initiative- not just waiting for work to be assigned; ability to learn about company services and technology and programs; strong written and verbal communication skills; experience with Microsoft Word and Excel; experience with Google and Google Docs; experience with customer relationship management (CRM) software(such as Hubspot or similar); knowledge of the following programs is a major plus: HubSpot, QuickBooks, Google Suite, WordPress, Asana, Trello, Gingr and Zoom.

Animal Internship Program

Our internship program is designed to teach students how to care for, train, and handle dogs correctly in our daycare and boarding facility and one-on-one with clients. This portion of our internship program is a great fit for students in an animal science degree program or for criminal justice students hoping to work with police K9s. Skills in husbandry, animal handling, and knowledge of training techniques will be applicable to nearly any field of animal work.
