Our experience with Atlantic K9 was spectacular! We originally reached out to Kathleen and her team to get help with training our 1.5 year old golden retriever, Fitz. Fitz is a wonderful dog, but has an extremely high drive and a tough time with impulse control. After finding Atlantic K9’s board and train program and having our consultation, I instantly felt reassured that Fitz’s behaviors weren’t so abnormal or helpless (as we had been told before) and knew that this was a perfect fit. I especially liked how all dogs who board with them or go to daycare attend the bootcamp, so I knew the team was thorough and well equipped and that Fitz would have a safe experience.

Fitz’s experience during bootcamp was a 10 out of 10 — honestly beyond that. Jenny, Kathleen and the entire team kept us updated on Fitz’s progress and was extremely responsive. While Fitz was at bootcamp, he developed a hot spot on his chest (typical Golden Retriever) and Kathleen and Jenny addressed it immediately and kept me informed on if it was getting better or worse. They never wanted me to worry and handled it like true professionals — they didn’t give up or make me come get Fitz. 

During the bootcamp, we realized how receptive Fitz was to commands and receiving “jobs.” His recall improved tremendously, and now that we have the right tools, we are able to anticipate Fitz’s behavior and course correct – with lots of treats! Jenny and Kathleen have continued to be there for us post-bootcamp, with follow up lessons and availability to answer any questions we have. Fitz has even gone back for boarding – he loves AK9! We are eternally grateful for the experience and would encourage everyone to enroll their dog in the training program.
