Off-Leash Training

Siberian Husky off-leash training

When I originally reached out to Kathleen I didn’t have a lot of hope that I would ever get my one-year-old Siberian Husky Freya off-leash trained. After a short phone call, I knew I was wrong. Now after only three in-person sessions, I feel comfortable having Freya off-leash in most, if not all, situations.

One of the most important things Kathleen does is not just enable you to train your dog, but she also trains the human. Teaching you to recognize your dogs’ body language and how to respond to it appropriately. Each session involved Kathleen teaching, demonstrating, and then if necessary, correcting, a few training exercises that I would then work on at home over the course of 1-2 weeks.

When we started, Freya exhibited all the typical Husky stubbornness, who when called, would glance at you, if you were lucky, then keep pursuing whatever she was chasing. Now, after being called she will not only stop her pursuit but come back and sit right in front of you. Even though I only signed up to work on Freya’s off-leash ability, Kathleen was quick to point out other ways I could work the e-collar as well as positive reinforcement into my training to further enhance Freya’s skills.

I have become so much closer to Freya as a result of our training and will definitely start the latest addition to our pack on training with Atlantic K9 as soon as she is ready to begin. I have no reservations recommending Kathleen and her team to anyone who wants to work on anything with their dogs!
