I have always said I love dogs, but I love well-trained dogs so much more! Growing up with Labrador retriever mixes, their training was fairly easily; they had the typical laidback, lab demeanor and were always eager to please. So when I adopted Remington, my full-bred Braque du Bourbonnais pointer, I was not prepared for his endless energy level and general disinterest in listening to training commands.

Initially, we went through puppy kindergarten and a basic obedience course through our veterinary office. However, my greatest concerns remained his recall, leash pulling, and ability to focus on the commands. That’s when I found Atlantic K9 and knew immediately their Boot Camp was the perfect next step!

Kathleen and Jenny were amazing to work with and I knew they had Remi’s best interest at heart. They listened to my concerns and made sure to emphasize his recall training. Once I picked Remi up after the two week Boot Camp, I couldn’t believe my 9 month old puppy could be set loose in a field and be recalled immediately. I can tell he loves having the freedom to run around off-leash and I am at ease knowing he will come when called. His leash walking skills have also improved significantly. Walks are enjoyable now; he’s not constantly pulling every which way and tripping me.

I was so impressed with Atlantic K9 that I have Remi attend their daycare once a week to keep with his training and burn off some energy. I will continue to recommend Atlantic K9 to everyone I know – there is no better investment for your four-legged family member!
