It was our lucky day when a friend referred us to Atlantic K9.  Having had dogs for 50 years and also a dog treat business we hadn’t anticipated the problems we would be faced with in adopting an 18 month old lab with no life experience.  Rosie was a sweet loving dog that had been living in a city high rise her entire life.   She was trained to potty pads and was unfamiliar with any experiences outside of her apartment.  She also had only lived with an elderly woman so was afraid of men.

With this in mind, we signed up for local obedience classes, but found that was not nearly enough to help with all the socialization and training that Rosie needed.  From the moment that we called Atlantic K9 and spoke to Kathleen we felt that their staff could help us with Rosie.  She went to bootcamp for 2 weeks in January. On our return, we experienced a new and improved version of Rosie.

Miracles do happen!! Rosie learned SO much and is now a pleasure to walk on and off leash.  She is more secure in her surroundings, meeting and greeting people and dogs.  The most important thing for us was that Rosie was happy at Atlantic K9.  We had pictures daily and conversations about her training throughout her stay.  Her instruction with Ari and our ongoing instruction has made for a smooth transition for Rosie.  They have helped with her leash manners, off leash recall, entering and exiting the car, barking, jumping and meeting men.  Last week we had a lesson with Ari in downtown Newburyport. Rosie encountered all kinds of distractions and was a star.  We were so proud of how far she was come in her training and confidence.

Atlantic K9 will continue to be our “go to” choice for boarding and training. She goes for boarding again next week.   We live in Maine so this in not the closest choice but it has proved to be the best choice for us and for Rosie.
