We took in Khoai Lang from family that lived in California that could no longer give him a home, even though we had never had a dog before. Our hearts broke with the thought of the sweet dog not being able to find a home or being lost in the shelters. The transition from California to Massachusetts was not an easy one for the 3 year old pup, and he unfortunately developed separation anxiety and some reactive behaviors that made even taking him out on simple walks seem like strolls through a field of landmines.

We scoured online for options in New England that could possibly help us out. Atlantic K9 had some amazing reviews, some great testimonials and a well laid out and informative website. Setting up an hour session for a meet and greet was super simple and communication was excellent. From the first meeting with Jenny, we could tell we had found the right place. We had done a meet and greet with a trainer before but the difference with Jenny was night and day. She knew immediately how to interact with Khoai Lang and how to get us involved in the training right away. Our doggo reacted to her like they were old friends after the initial anxiety slipped away, with the help of a handful of treats, of course.

Jenny was informative, instructive, friendly, and clearly knew what she was doing. After the first meeting, we enrolled in the boot camp and fell in love with Atlantic K9. Leading up to the drop off, information and directions were communicated expertly and we knew just what to expect. Throughout the two weeks we received updates, phone calls, and pictures talking about progress, expectations and what they hoped to achieve, as well as making sure that our expectations were being met or if there was anything more that we specifically wanted them to focus on. It’s clearly a course that they’ve created and worked on to be general to all dogs, but also can be tailored specifically to each individual doggo’s needs.

On the final day, we were amazed at the results we saw but it wouldn’t be until we had taken him home that we would truly see how incredible the training was. Khoai Lang was still the same loveable dog, but could now manage his anxiety and was constantly checking in with us for reassurance and guidance in his surroundings. We could not recommend Atlantic k9 more to anyone who would care to listen! They are all amazing and clearly love the animals in their care. We have since used them for multiple day care visits where training continues and we know he is in good hands for the day.
